What is coaching, and how can it help me?
Coaching is a goal-oriented process where you work 1-on-1 with a coach to navigate challenges, set goals, and build life skills. Whether it’s time management, stress, finances, career or relationships - ShineQuo coaches empower you to take action and grow.
What happens after I book a session?
You’ll receive a confirmation email with a calendar invite. Make sure to add your session to your calendar. You will also receive reminders with the session details. Simply join the call from your phone or laptop using the link provided in email or from the platform.
How does coaching work on ShineQuo?
Students complete a coach matching form, gets matched with 3 life coaches or mentors based on their needs. They can then browse the detailed profiles of each of the coaches or mentors, select their preferred professional, and execute virtual 1-on-1 action-oriented sessions.
What is the role of my coach?
Your coach acts as a goal-oriented accountability partner who helps you structure daily life habits, navigate key collegiate transitions, build confidence, and generate trackable action milestones.
Are ShineQuo coaches licensed therapists?
No. ShineQuo coaches are International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified life coaches; they are not licensed medical healthcare providers and do not deliver clinical psychiatric treatment. Each coach or mentor goes through comprehensive identity, and professional screening. The average years of experience for our coaches and mentors is 15 years.
What qualifications do ShineQuo coaches have?
Coaches hold rigorous ICF credentials, come from diverse global backgrounds, offer multilingual capabilities, and specialize in student verticals like student transitions, career clarity, and executive functioning. Each coach and mentor goes through comprehensive identity, and professional screening. The average years of experience for our coaches and mentors is 15 years
What methods or techniques do ShineQuo coaches use?
Our coaches utilize structured, ICF, motivational interviewing techniques and GROW framework designed explicitly for behavioral habit-building, emotional self-regulation, goal orchestration, and proactive problem-solving.
Can I choose my own coach?
Yes. ShineQuo’s matching system generates 3 vetted coach profiles based on your specific growth objectives, giving you full control to choose the professional who best aligns with your goals.
Can I submit the coach matching form more than once?
Yes. You can re-submit the coach matching intake after 24 hours of last submission if your personal milestones evolve or if you would like to generate an entirely new set of professional coach options.
Is coaching confidential? Can my parents/school see my sessions?
Yes, coaching is entirely confidential and secure. Your individual conversations, and session logs are completely private and are not disclosed to your parents or university staff. If your university is partnered with us, they will still not be able to see your personal information, conversations, goals or progress.
Is coaching useful for freshmen?
Yes. Coaching provides vital transition support by giving first-year students actionable strategies to conquer homesickness, manage new schedules, build relationships, prepare career profile and establish campus belonging early.
Can I change my coach?
Yes. If your objectives shift or you wish to explore a different professional style, you can re-submit your coach matching preferences through your student dashboard at any time.
Can I book multiple sessions with my preferred coach?
Yes. You can schedule multiple consecutive sessions with your selected coach per month, bounded flexibly by your available credits and mutual calendar availability. It is recommended to meet with your coach every 2 weeks unless you decide to pause for a while or have achieved your goal.
What will my first session be like?
Your first session is a welcoming introductory alignment where you and your coach define core focus verticals, isolate personal barriers, and map out your initial trackable habit goals.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That is completely normal; your coach is trained to guide you. You can start with broad areas like adjusting to campus culture, managing daily time, or building personal confidence but you should have one goal in mind to start with.
What happens after a session?
After your session, you or your coach can update your action items before the next session. The app dashboard updates with your goals, active milestones, habit checklists, and automated accountability reminders.
Can I focus on more than one problem/goal at a time?
Yes. ShineQuo's multidimensional growth framework allows you to track and build progress across career readiness, relationship skills, lifestyle habits, and stress processing simultaneously.
How often should I meet with a coach?
Meeting biweekly or weekly is highly recommended to build steady behavioral momentum and lock in consistent accountability.
Can sessions be used anytime? What if I don't use all my sessions?
Sessions can be booked flexibly across your school years or after. Generally sessions are allotted for 12 months from the date of purchase/account creation. Please review your explicit student subscription or institutional tier for exact monthly rollover or expiration specifications.
How long should I work with a coach?
There are no forced long-term or lifetime obligations. You can work with a coach continuously to establish core skills and pause or modify your sessions once your target milestones are reached.
Is my information confidential / how is my privacy protected?
ShineQuo implements enterprise-grade data security and strict FERPA-compliant standards; institutional data dashboards only ever show highly aggregated, completely anonymized engagement trends.
Is ShineQuo free for students?
Basic tier of ShineQuo is 100% free for all students worldwide. For continuous benefits of coaching and other offerings, students can either buy standalone individual student plans or check if their university hosts an active partnership with us for complete free access throughout their school term.
How much does ShineQuo cost?
Individual student plans start at $0/month and goes to ~$35-50/month. Institutional university partnerships are tiered separately based on student enrollment count and flexible utilization rates.
Is the ShineQuo community safe for students?
Yes. The ShineQuo peer support ecosystem is guarded by strict safety parameters, featuring active moderation and structured escalation protocols to maintain a completely secure environment.
What if I'm having a mental health emergency / crisis while using ShineQuo?
ShineQuo is strictly non-clinical and is not a crisis provider. In an emergency, immediately call 911, go to an ER, or text HOME to 741741 to access the National Crisis Text Line.
What are the rewards/points on ShineQuo and how do they work?
Students earn engagement points for completing lifestyle challenges, logging habit streaks, and completing coaching sessions, which are redeemable for wellness products and self-care items.
