Role Overview


ShineQuo is seeking an FP&A Analyst Trainee interested in gaining practical experience in financial planning, forecasting, pricing, and startup finance.


Working closely with the Founder & CEO, the trainee will participate in guided financial projects, analytical exercises, and business case studies connected to ShineQuo’s growth and higher-education partnerships. The role is designed to build hands-on FP&A capabilities through structured supervision, practical application, and regular feedback.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop financial scenarios based on different pricing, partnership, and growth assumptions.

  • Analyze pricing, unit economics, margins, and cost-to-serve across college segments.

  • Create illustrative models exploring how student engagement and retention outcomes may translate into institutional ROI.

  • Research publicly available college enrollment, retention, tuition, budget, and student-support data.

  • Develop prototype KPI dashboards tracking platform adoption, partnership pipeline, revenue, expenses, and cash runway.

  • Practice budget-to-actual and variance analysis using sample, historical, or approved company data.

  • Create account-scoring frameworks based on contract potential, institutional characteristics, and estimated cost-to-serve.

  • Prepare financial summaries and present key findings, assumptions, and limitations.

  • Complete a final capstone project integrating forecasting, pricing, unit economics, and KPI analysis.

All work will be completed under supervision and reviewed before being used to inform company decisions. 


Qualifications

  • Graduate-level education in finance, financial analytics, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.

  • Foundational knowledge of financial statements, forecasting, budgeting, valuation, and corporate finance.

  • Proficiency in Google Sheets.

  • Experience with financial modeling, business analysis, or dashboard development through coursework or previous projects.

  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.

  • Ability to organize assumptions and explain financial findings clearly.

  • Interest in FP&A, education technology, higher education, or early-stage ventures.

  • Availability for ~ 20 hours per week.

  • Authorization to participate in the training opportunity in the United States.


Expected Learning Outcomes


By the end of the training period, the trainee should be able to:

  • Build and explain an integrated startup financial model.

  • Prepare revenue, expense, cash-flow, and runway forecasts.

  • Evaluate pricing, margins, and unit economics.

  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses.

  • Develop clear and decision-oriented KPI dashboards.

  • Assess partnership opportunities using structured financial criteria.

  • Translate financial analysis into concise executive insights.

  • Present recommendations while clearly communicating assumptions, risks, and limitations.

This is an unpaid, temporary practical training opportunity. Based on the trainee’s contributions, completion of agreed learning milestones, and ShineQuo’s available resources, the trainee may be considered for a discretionary performance-based stipend or completion award. Any such award is not guaranteed and will be determined by ShineQuo in compliance with applicable employment, wage, tax, and immigration requirements.


Candidates must be legally authorized to participate in the United States. Individuals participating through OPT or another employment-authorization program should confirm with their Designated School Official or immigration advisor that the opportunity and any potential compensation are permitted under their specific authorization.
